Diving is almost an obligatory activity for all visitors to make tours for knowing the sea beauties of Noronha.
With a variety of landscapes and a good preserved marine environment, the Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha is considered one of the best places in the world for diving. The crystaline waters afford a good visibility down to 50 meters deep.
For taking advantage of these charms without any risk, it's important to hire the services of specialized companies with experience in this kind of activity. Two main kinds of diving are offered: the autonomous diving with air cylinders and the free diving, which can be an apnea diving or a towing diving.
The map below shows some diving points, selected by the Government of Noronha:
There are options for everyone, from the absolute beginner to the seasoned pro.
Some diving points are just 3 meters (10 ft) deep, such as Navio do Leão (number 23 in the map); the deepest point is Corveta 17 (number 3 in the map, away from the coast), which reaches more than 40 meters (130 ft) deep.
Prices vary with the equipments, the experience of the instructor, the lenght of the diving. In early 2008, a short dive for beginners was going for about R$ 300.
